Puerto Plata Central Park has become the most popular meeting place in Puerto Plata. This beautiful park is also known as Independence Square. This park is a national symbol due to its history.

Stop At: Fortaleza San Felipe, Calle Avenida General Gregorio Luperon.

Fortaleza San Felipe is a historic Spanish fortress. Is also known as El Morro de San Felipe and was used to protect the City of Puerto Plata from pirates and corsairs.

Stop At: Umbrella Street, Calle San Felipe. Umbrella Street is a colorful pedestrian only street with several touristy establishments. This outdoor area is decorated with their signature vibrant umbrellas. Once you’ve snapped some photos you can explore a coffee shop or check out the chocolate or tobacco museum. Stop At: Paseo de Dona Blanca, Calle Beller No. 30. Paseo Doña Blanca: This is an alley painted entirely pink with Victorian architectural details.

Stop At: Fifi Jewelry And Cigar Store, C/12 De Julio A. Esq. Separacion # 41. Fifi Jewelry Amber Museum is one of the most visited places in Puerto Plata. Inside, it hosts one of the biggest resin exhibitions in the Dominican Republic. The country has the most important amber deposits in the world; moreover, blue, green or warm honey colors are unique from this area due to its volcanic activity. Here, you can discover the history of this vegetal-origin precious stone. The most well known stones exhibited at this museum is a 40cm lizard conserved inside a piece of amber. This resin can hold prehistoric fossils of plants and little animals due to its sticky nature. Turning the stone into a subject of study. It is said that Steven Spielberg was inspired by this museum when he was working on his famous film Jurassic Park. Stop At: Del Oro Chocolate Factory. Del Oro Chocolate Factory is a great place to visit in Puerto Plata. The factory produces organic Dominican cocoa chocolate and is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth. As you taste the various chocolates, you will also discover how the different machines are used to make the chocolate. The Del Oro Chocolate Factory Tour begins with a short film about the chocolate-making process, followed by a chocolate tasting at the end of the tour. Stop At: Catedral San Felipe, Calle Jose Del Carmen Ariza. This modern Victorian cathedral is a sight to see. The high ceilings, strained windows and beautiful architecture make this an interesting stop to explore.
