Description
The Dominican Republic has so much more to offer than just white-sand beaches and luxurious resorts and what a better way to discover it in a safari truck?
In this full day tour with an experienced guide, we’ll pick you up at your hotel and head towards the countryside to visit coffee, cacao and sugar cane plantations. You will taste authentic sugar cane, fresh fruits, mamajuana (local rum) and try handmade cigars. You will also learn about the vital economic importance of these plantations.
We’ll then head into the Dominican mountains where you will meet a local farmer’s family to learn about their lifestyle. They will show you their home, tell you about their work as well as their typical dishes. We’ll also pass-by a rural school to greet school kids and learn about the Dominican educational system.
Our next stop will be in the city of Higüey to visit the Basilica-Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia. It’s the most important religious site in the entire Caribbean with its impressive arch that’s nearly 250 feet above the ground.
Rancho Valencia will be our next visit to meet the best handicrafts of the region. On this vast ranch, you can also enjoy and take a swim in the Anamuya River.
Our tour will end at the majestic Macao beach where your options are endless. You can sunbathe, take a dip in the turquoise waters or simply enjoy the breathtaking views.
A delicious Dominican lunch will be offered as well as a round-trip transportation to your hotel/resort for a memorable local Dominican experience.
